The SPHS represents one of the best ready-to-go areas of Darwin with scope for high return on investment for the Territory, and support for CBD growth.  It’s been neglected for years and its high time we support reinvigoration of the area to support sustainable economic growth, local business investment, and housing development in Stuart Park and The Gardens.

It’s been neglected for years and its high time we support reinvigoration of the area to support sustainable economic growth, local business investment, and housing development in Stuart Park and The Gardens.

To the Speaker and the Members of the Legislative Assembly of the Northern Territory.

This petition as signed below calls the attention of the Northern Territory Legislative Assembly to:

Recognise the importance of supporting redevelopment of the Stuart Park High Street to improve amenity and create a high street with character, a sense of place, and well-thought-out access for patrons, pedestrians, cyclists, motorists, locals and visitors.

The Petitioners therefore ask that the Northern Territory Legislative Assembly:

Commit to a masterplan of coordinated redevelopment of the Stuart Park High Street, to improve traffic management, to make the promenade safer, parking easier, and frequenting the area more desirable; and, under the existing parameters of the NT Planning Scheme 2020, develop gateway locations, improved buildings, laneway accesses, active street frontages, and balanced options for commercial and residential mixed-used development.  

Upon presentation to the Assembly, this Petition will become a public document.
