The office of Dr Tanzil Rahman MLA is seeking applications for a full-time ongoing Electorate Officer, based in the Fong Lim office located in Stuart Park, Darwin NT.
This role would suit an experienced and organised administrator capable of working very independently, to manage the electorate office, constituency matters, correspondence, digital workflow and databases, and support the local Member as required. Past experience as an electorate officer or in political settings is not a prerequisite for this job.

Key Responsibilities
- Managing the electorate office, phone calls, and reception 8:30am to 5pm Mon-Fri
- Coordination of the Member's appointments and diary
- Triaging and managing correspondence, including preparation of draft responses
- Hearing constituent issues, and actioning in consultation with the Member
- Maintaining digital databases and the physical upkeep of the electorate office
- Monitoring media and issues of interest or relevance to the Member
- Liaising with Legislative Assembly staff on matters associated with the administration of the electorate office, Member's entitlements, and Member's travel itineraries
- Supporting the Member as required to undertake their responsibilities
Selection Criteria
Essential
- Excellent office management and general administration skills
- High levels of tact, discretion, confidentiality, and attention to detail
- Good digital, IT, and social media skills
- Good written and oral communication skills
- The ability to work with minimal supervision
- Good interpersonal skills, patience, and the ability to deal with a variety of people
- Adaptability and a willingness to learn new skills
- Understanding of the respective roles of and services provided by government agencies
Desirable
- Experience with any of the following: data analysis, research, speech writing, graphic design, videography, editing, digital content creation, or website maintenance
- Experience providing executive assistance
- Connection to and knowledge about the Fong Lim electorate
Key Dates
